Welcome to Women’s Day on Saturday, May 18th at 2 PM at AKC Gnezdo!
Some of us will be encountering, for the first time, the increasingly popular technique of making and coloring mandalas. The word mandala comes from Sanskrit and means “circle”; it is also called a magical circle. As a symbol, it is not only connected to the East—in many other cultures it appears in the form of a flower, a wheel, or a cross.
In its classical sense, a mandala represents a projection of the world, cosmic intelligence, as well as the unity of the macrocosm and microcosm. It is also an instrument for visualization and meditation. Drawing and coloring mandalas calms the mind, reduces stress, and relieves unpleasant emotions, which is why more and more people around the world are turning to this ancient practice.
We will be guided through this creative and interesting technique by our friend from AKC Gnezdo, artist Kaća Krsmanović.
To participate in the workshop, you can apply via email at alternativniczd@gmail.com or send us a message in the inbox.
Women’s Day is designed as a program of free workshops with various creative and educational content, intended for women and girls, aimed at empowerment, support, personal development, and a better quality of life. It is implemented in Kruševac as part of the project “Joint Initiative Against Gender-Based Violence Towards Young Women in Serbia,” carried out by the Alternative Center for Girls in partnership with the Center for Education and Counseling Catalyst from Belgrade, with support from the Swedish foundation Kvinna till Kvinna.
