Story of the House – Exhibition of Illustrations by Aleksandar Zolotić

About the exhibition:
“Story of the House” is a kind of handbook of architectural history and the culture of living. Using a popular lift-the-flap format and concise factual descriptions, it introduces younger audiences to these topics in a fun and interactive way—exploring construction methods throughout human history and what they aspire to today.

In 2018, the publishing company The Old Dungate Press LTD commissioned Aleksandar Zolotić as the illustrator who would, through rich compositions and a wealth of detail, help fulfill the book’s purpose and mission. The exhibition of these illustrations reflects the artist’s desire to present them in large formats, allowing the diversity of architectural styles and the many small stories woven into these colorful scenes to gain even greater significance, inviting visitors to become part of them.

AKC “Gnezdo” is a fitting venue for exhibiting these works, as it symbolically represents a home itself—a place where art brings people together like a family, fostering new ideas and creative growth.

The exhibition is organized as part of Gnezdo’s annual gallery program, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia through the 2021 public call in the field of fine, applied, and visual arts, design, and architecture.
