MicroFAF (International Festival of Independent and DIY Film) is a platform that, since 2010, has brought together authors of DIY production and opened space for all film enthusiasts creating in limited (“micro”) conditions and expressing themselves in short (“micro”) forms.
MicroFAF (International Festival of Independent and DIY Film) is a platform that, since 2010, has brought together authors of DIY production and opened space for all film enthusiasts creating in limited (“micro”) conditions and expressing themselves in short (“micro”) forms.
Through its activities, the festival promotes artistic freedom, focusing on guerrilla filmmaking, art brut, lo-fi, experimental forms, and self-organized creativity. Over the past 11 years, by screening films wherever they could set up a screen—on streets, in cafés, public squares, squats, cultural centers, and apartments—the organizers have presented hundreds of films from around the world. In recent years, they have found a more permanent home at the Yugoslav Film Archive Museum.
Still, the festival team continues to enjoy smaller, more intimate screenings and conversations with authors and audiences.
MicroFAF is organized by the Satibara collective from Belgrade, who will visit AKC Gnezdo on April 27th. On that occasion, you will have the opportunity to watch a retrospective program of films that, over seven editions of the festival, have won the Micropolis Award, received special recognitions, or attracted significant audience attention.
Throughout the year, Satibara also runs various educational programs for young people, both in Belgrade and in smaller towns and villages, so the selection will likely include some gems created during these artistic processes.
Admission is free, and socializing after the screening is encouraged.
